Sophie’s peaceful existence as a hat shop worker is turned upside down when she meets the handsome but mysterious wizard named Howl. But the vain  Witch of the Waste, jealous of their encounter, casts a spell on Sophie, transforming her into a 90-year-old woman. Overwhelmed by her new appearance, Sophie flees to the mountains, where she discovers Howl’s home: his magnificent Moving Castle. But what if this is only the beginning of a wonderful story?  µ
For the outspoken pacifist Miyazaki, Howl’s Moving Castle stands as perhaps his most explicit anti-war statement, while allowing his flair for fantastical worlds and intricate detail to flourish in one of his most imaginative films.
